I love this quilt so much! from Moda Lissa

Fall Quilt Magic

There’s a distinct magic in the air that can only mean one thing – fall has arrived or kind of. We are finally experiencing a relief from the extreme heat in Texas. We can’t wait to cozy up, to savor the simple pleasures, and to find warmth in the midst of nature’s gentle descent into winter. What better way to capture the feeling of fall than by pulling out quilts and decorating for the season.

In a world filled with mass-produced items, there’s an undeniable charm in creating something with our own hands. A ...

Fall/Thanksgiving Wrap Up from Luann's Loose Threads

Hello everyone.   I know it's been awhile.  I've just come back from my semi annual quilt retreat in Shipshewana, Indiana.   That was my first time being there in 3 years.  It was wonderful to see old friends and meet some new ones.  Several people asked what happened to my blog.   I've been over on Instagram lately.  My user name is loosethreads_luann if you want to follow me over there.  I've also been doing mostly cross stitch lately, but after being at the quilt retreat I'm inspired to do a bit of quilting.

We had a ...

Thanksgiving Decor for November with Quilts and Treasures from From My Carolina Home

Autumn decor gets more full with each passing month, and November brings out the turkeys to add to the fall leaves and pumpkins. I change out a few things for a Thanksgiving theme this month. I brought out the pilgrim figures I’ve had for many years now, a remembrance of my mother as they were hers. They are precious to me, and this year I put them with the mini quilt and a small turkey. My turkey candles go in a clear glass holders with harvest candle rings.

In the kitchen, my maple leaf runners are on the tables ...

Jazz up your indoor Halloween decor this year with these Halloween quilts – 2 patterns you will love as they are easy, fast, and fun!

Photograph by Quilter’s World. Used with permission.

The first quilt is called Haunted House. It measures 37″ x 37″ and the blocks finish at 12″ and 6″. Simple log cabin blocks frame the center applique’, with the cat and bat adding movement to the design. Fall Table Topper and Recipe from Pieced Brain

I finished this table topper about SEVEN years ago and totally forgot about it! It is now quilted (thanks to Melissa at Sew Shabby Quilting), bound, and living on my dining room table. I love its colors and, best of all, the applique'!

The flowers on the main fabric are colorful and fun so I copied them and turned them into the applique' motifs. Look closely: I machine applique' everything with the blanket stitch using matching thread colors (Aurifil 40 wt). I stitched the ric-rac down using a straight stitch, following its wavy shape so that ric-rac is going nowhere ...
